Merging Contacts

WebWorkstation

Use merge when two active contact records represent the same person or organization. You choose the record that remains as the survivor and merge the duplicate into it.

WARNING

Review both records before merging. Use relationships when records represent different people or organizations that are connected; do not merge them.

Merge two contacts

  1. Open either contact profile.
  2. Open the contact actions menu and select Merge with another contact.
  3. Search for and select the duplicate.
  4. Compare the records and choose the survivor. Use Swap survivor if needed.
  5. Review any keytag warning and select Merge contacts.

The survivor keeps its ID and existing values. Empty survivor fields can use information from the duplicate. Contact details, alternate names, tags, types, relationships, notes, files, form submissions, payment methods, sales, memberships, and bookings resolve to the survivor. ZynoSuite keeps the most restrictive marketing preference, so an opt-out remains an opt-out.

If both contacts have a zyno.id Keytag #, the survivor keeps its tag and the duplicate's tag is detached. ZynoSuite shows this as a warning before the merge.

After a merge

The duplicate contact opens as a non-editable record that directs you to the survivor. Search and ongoing work use the survivor's record.

Immediately after a successful merge, the survivor profile can show Undo merge in the same browser session. Undo restores the source contact and eligible transferred records when the current data permits it. Do not rely on Undo as a replacement for checking the survivor before confirming the merge.
